Charms Of The Cornwall Coast

4 nights from £539pp

Offer highlights

Welcome to Cornwall, the land of King Arthur. It is a region that has forged its own identity throughout history and appears separate from the rest of our island - having resisted the formative Roman invasion and, later, the Saxons.

  • Full-day Eden Project excursion
  • Guided orientation walks
  • Land's End nad St Ives with cream tea

Itinerary

Day 1 - Falmouth

Settle into the Royal Duchy Hotel (4Q) and join your tour host for a welcome drink before dinner.

Day 2 - Eden Project

In January 1995, where the Eden Project stands today was just a huge clay pit, nearing the end of its economic life. Your visit will showcase an extraordinary series of biomes, showcasing the world’s most important plants. The Eden Project was Sir Tim Smit’s brainchild and its construction faced plenty of Herculean engineering challenges - after all, the site sits 15 metres below the water table!

Stroll through the biomes, spotting banana trees, rubber plants and host of other horticulture. Discover how Eden is educating for the future, learn about a few of its sustainability projects and, in its hands-on exhibitions, see some of the challenges that face the world as we move through the 21st century.

Day 3 - Truro

Today, we invite you to Cornwall’s only city, bustling with just 19,000 inhabitants. They say that good things come in small packages, and Truro certainly attests to that. During your visit, take a tour of the 19th-century cathedral, the grand Victorian edifice of which soars above the landscape. Inside, gaze up at its vaulted nave and bathe in the warm light cast by the stained-glass windows.

Afterwards, you have time to spend at leisure to perhaps visit the Royal Cornwall Museum, exhibiting local history and art.

Day 4 - Land's End and St Ives

Despite Land’s End being a rather minor landmark, it has captivated visitors for hundreds of years. Beyond this point (and past the Isles of Scilly) is open ocean, so you would be forgiven for thinking this was the edge of the world. At one point it was!

Spend some time at the landmark before visiting St Ives. Once a sleepy fishing town, today St Ives bustles with holidaymaker energy and boasts beautiful beaches and a collection of modern art, housed within Tate St Ives. Stroll along its narrow Victorian streets and soak up the charm of the place. During your time here, you will also be treated to a cream tea. Remember, as you’re in Cornwall, the cream goes on top of the jam!

Day - Farewell

Leave Cornwall behind, having soaked up what makes the county truly special.

The Royal Duchy Hotel

When searching for the perfect Cornish escape, look no further than the Royal Duchy Hotel (4Q). Enjoying a picturesque position on Falmouth seafront, the bay seems to envelop the hotel, with Pendennis Castle - built by Henry VIII - on the one side and Pennance Point on the other. Inside, the Royal Duchy’s 45 distinctive en suite rooms offer Wi-Fi access, gowns, refreshments and luxury toiletries to ensure your complete comfort. The 2 AA rosette restaurant serves British cuisine with a contemporary twist -using the best local ingredients. Specialising in comfort, good food, smart style and excellent facilities within natural surroundings, it is perhaps no wonder that the Royal Duchy Hotel was awarded four-star silver status by AA in 2018 and provides an excellent opportunity to explore Cornwall.
